Journal entry 1 - River

It's that time of year again. Getting the river Bach ready for opening weekend on the Waikato River. Stocking up with firewood, Putting the carpets and mattress down ready for comings and going of the various visitors that will stay over the month.
With the boats back in the water, arrive at the dock to see what a year of wear and tear looks like.

Light the fire to get some heat in the bach and test to see if the boil is still working, looking for fires, etc., from nests being built around the pipes or in the chimney. Connect the battery for the 12-volt lighting system. All good. Take a trip to the Miamai, reinstate some camouflage, and fashion the branches.

Whilst out, we cook up the gastronomic delight of Lasagna toppers. My promise to myself is an improvement on my standard of food whilst out in the wilds........
